At what age should my child have their first dental visit?

For children's dentists, the general rule is 'first visit by the first birthday.' To prevent dental problems and upkeep dental hygiene, your child should visit a pediatric dentist no later than their first birthday.

When should my child start using toothpaste?

Your child should not use fluoridated toothpaste before the age of 3 years. Prior to that, clean your child's teeth with water & a soft bristled toothbrush.

Is thumb sucking harmful to my child's teeth and oral health?

Thumb and pacifier sucking habits that go on for a long period of time can create crowded, crooked teeth or bite problems. However, most children usually quit thumb sucking on their own. If they are still sucking on their thumb when permanent teeth arrive, a mouth appliance may be recommended by the pediatric dentist.

How often should my child visit the dentist?

At Village Kids Dentistry, our pediatric dentists advise that your child have a routine check up every six months. Depending on your child's needs, more frequent visits could be necessary.

Who qualifies for low cost dental services?

State run programs like Medicaid help families access quality, low cost dental and health care across Greensboro, NC & beyond. Most Medicaid services cover children under the age of 21. In order to obtain the low cost dental services, you must apply and meet the income qualifications.

What services are included in your low cost dental care?

All of our services are included in low cost dental care. If your insurance covers it, we will do it. Our services include cleanings, cavity fillings, and more.

Are dental x-rays necessary for my child?

X-rays (radiographs) are an important part of your child’s dental diagnostic process. Without them, certain dental conditions can and will be missed. X-rays detect much more than cavities. Our low cost dental services can ensure anything is caught early.
